The EAGLES Sixth Form Programme
2020欧洲杯体育手机投注now in its third year, this programme is unique to millfield and has gone from strength to strength. encompassing over 200 sixth form pupils on a voluntary basis at home and overseas, our sixth form donated over 4,000 hours of voluntary service last year.
2020欧洲杯体育手机投注eagles offers opportunities to develop leadership skills in a variety of ways.
E 2020欧洲杯体育手机投注= Emerging Adults Workshops in personal finance and interview skills, social etiquette, resilience, interpersonal skills, digital citizenship, food for university and beyond, the art of conversation and global awareness.
A = Activity Coaching younger pupils in sport at Millfield and local state schools. Several EAGLES activities are also physically challenging e.g. Somerset Youth Volunteering, animal rescue centres, wildlife reserves.
G = Global Awareness International trips including visits to Geneva – UN, UNICEF, UNHCR, International Red Cross, Medecins Sans Frontieres, WHO and other NGOs. Laos – building mud huts to sustain mountain villages. India – exploring social discrimination, ethics and philosophy, government and politics, women empowerment, religions. At Millfield – International Pupils’ Association, MUN, lectures with international context.
L2020欧洲杯体育手机投注 = Leadership At Millfield: Prefects, Heads of House/ Sport, Year 9 mentors, leading MAP/sport activities, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award working with Enterprise and Foundation Departments and OM Society. In local and national community: teaching, mentoring and collaborating with local state junior and secondary schools. Leading service and environment activities.
E = Environment Volunteering at: Happy Landings Animal Sanctuary, Secret World Wildlife Rescue, South West Volunteers and collaborating with local state schools in these initiatives.
S = Service Forging strong bonds with the local community: Somerset Youth Volunteering, local state schools, Glastonbury Community Centre, local care homes, Millfield Mencap Day, Glastonbury Radio, Dementia Friends.
